Organizing a Wedding Reception

For many weddings only family members, close friends and relatives are present for the wedding. Other friends, relatives, and business associates, are invited to the wedding reception which takes place after the wedding. It is an occasion which allows them to meet the bride and groom, wish them and also meet other friends and relatives. Most people consider their wedding to be the most important day of their life, and spare no expense and effort to ensure that they organize the best wedding reception for their friends and relatives.

The couple getting married may personally organize the wedding reception or use the services of a wedding planner or coordinator to plan and organize the best wedding reception. If the number of people being invited to the wedding reception is less, the couple getting married may organize the wedding reception themselves, with the help of friends and relatives and save a substantial amount in the process. However, if a large number of people are being invited for the wedding or a large budget is available, it is advisable to use the services of a wedding planner or coordinator who will coordinate between different agencies.

The two main aspects of a wedding reception are the venue for the reception and the catering arrangements for the guest. Based on the convenience of the couple who are getting married, the number of people who are invited for the reception, budget available and the date when the wedding is taking place, a suitable reception venue will have to be booked. The reception venue may be a hotel, community hall or any other public space, which can be rented on a daily basis. The venue will have to be decorated suitably, with lighting and sound systems installed. Seating arrangements will have to be made for all the guests by hiring chairs and other furniture.

Another important aspect of a wedding reception is the catering arrangements for the guests. These are usually outsourced to a catering contractor based on the kind of menu needed, number of dishes, ingredients to be used and number of people who are invited for the wedding reception. The caterer will usually also make the necessary arrangements for cutlery and plates needed for serving the food. Thus to plan the best wedding reception possible, it is advisable to use the services of vendors who take pride in offering the best quality services to their clients.
